April Community Day will feature the Psi Pokémon, Abra, Trainers! In addition to that, a new Community Day experience will be introduced on Abra Community Day! Let’s take a closer look at what you can expect during April’s Community Day, besides a ton of – hopefully Shiny – Abra. This special ‘Play at Home‘ edition has a lot in store!

Note: This CD was originally planned for March, but was postponed due to the current global COVID-19 crisis.It has now been altered to be playable from home.

Abra Community Day Basic Info

EVENT DATE/ TIME:		Sat. Apr. 25th, 2020 from 11am – 5pm local time
FEATURES:		Abra will be appearing more frequently in the wild.
		If you’re lucky, you may encounter a Shiny Abra.
		Evolve Kadabra into Alakazam for the exclusive Fighting-type Fast Attack Counter!
		Community Day will now run for 6-hours instead of the regular three.
		The bonus will now be 3× Catch Stardust.

Stardust Tips & Tricks

Stack your Field Research encounters and catch them during the CD window.
Try to CATCH EVERYTHING, not only Abra.
Run a Star Piece for the full 6 hours.
Use your Incense to maximize spawns.

3-HOUR INCENSE

Instead of Lure Modules, Incense will last for three hours during Abra Community Day hours, .

Make sure to activate your Incense after the event starts, otherwise it will last for the regular 1 hour instead of 3 hours.

EXCLUSIVE MOVE: COUNTER

Evolving for Exclusive Move

If you evolve your Kadabra between 11am – 8pm Local Time, Alakazam will learn the Community Day Exclusive Move Counter, a Fighting-type fast attack!

Note: You’ll be able to obtain the Exclusive Move up to 2 hours after boosted spawns end.

Counter PVE Analysis

We can be short here. Will Counter improve Alakazam in PVE? Short answer: no, it won’t. Alakazam needs its Psychic-type fast moves in order to perform good in Gyms and Raids.

Alakazam gets a significant upgrade with Counter added to its fast move pool. It won’t be a major game changer, but a Fighting-type fast move provides a lot more coverage for Alakazam. With Counter, it gains some notable wins in the open Great League format, including top meta picks like Registeel, Skarmory, and Bastiodon.

Unfortunately, its low HP (glass cannon much) doesn’t help it, and meta picks like Zweilous and Umbreon are enormous threats. A plus point is that it can chip away some HP with Counter. In future Silph Cups, things might look brighter for Mr. Spoonz!
