THE GameShirt INTERVIEW is on fi-ya!

G2G: First, can you tell me your in-game Trainer name, level, and your favorite Pokémon? Is there a reason it is your favorite? Also, what do you do in your daily life?

GSFi11y , 32 (I know, rural player!) , and easily Growlithe , they’re tough, dependable, oh and a cute doggy!

My day to day life has changed dramatically recently with the birth of our son. Though when I’m not doing fatherly duties or making clothes and bags for customers I love a good walk with the dogs in the countryside which is abundant around us.

G2G: What got you into Pokémon/Pokémon GO? Were you into Pokémon before GO was released? What do you like the most about Pokémon in general? Do you have a favorite feature in PoGO?

GS: I got into Pokémon when the original series was released on UK TV, at 9.25 each Saturday morning Ant & Dec would sing a “Poké-Rap” on SMTV:LIVE before they aired the latest episode! When the game came out in 1999 I waited patiently from release in October until Christmas when my mother presented me with a copy of Pokémon RED! I raced to get the cartridge into the Gameboy, ensuring I had plenty of spare batteries and a torch for when it got dark and played for days, with friends coming round with their game boys and us all playing Pokémon together.

I first got into GO when it was released in New Zealand and my SO and I got the APK and installed it onto our phones. We felt like mavericks as in our mind, no-one else was going to have the game near us- boy were we wrong! The streets were filled with people catching lil’ digital critters and we sat and shared coffee with some people who had put a lure into a stop for the first time. I think that’s what got me into Pokémon more than it otherwise should; the ease at which it was to talk to others about it, trading from my copy of red to my friend Martyn who had a copy of blue and a system link cable for the GBColour to talking to a random guy about how fun throwing balls at an AR Weedle was!

G2G: What inspired you to create Pokémon focused apparel? Was it just something you wanted to do, or is there more to it?

GSI think the most attractive part of making Pokémon inspired clothing for me was the not quite sci-fi feel of it all, the idea that you could bring a little bit of thier world into ours. There’s lots of games where this is true but somehow the Pokémon ones really stand out to me, it’s possible that it just brings me back to the boy in his room playing his Gameboy colour until his eyes nearly fell out!

G2G: How do you come up with these amazing ideas, what is your creation process. Can you give our readers a little taste of everything you make because I see more than just shirts when I visit your site? What is your favorite GameShirt item?

GSGrowing up there was only really one way to get video game t-shirts: buy the ones with the name of the game plastered on the front and paying £25 for the privilege of advertising for someone else. I set out to make the opposite of that, affordable clothing that looks good for people who don’t know what it’s about and looks great for those who do get the references!

One of my absolute favourite things to do is create shops that either do or could exist in video game worlds and bring them to ours and then making either staff uniforms or shopping bags based on them!

Pokémon is a great game for this and I really feel like making stores and cafés out of the locations in games really brings them to life. Like the Safari Zone Gift Shop , or Miltank’s MooMoo Milk Bar. Seeing them in person brings a little extra joy to those who see them, especially for younger people who know what the safari zone is but aren’t 100% sure if it’s a real place or not!

My Favourite things not only to make but to see are the odd things, the little dice pouches, the shopping bags, and the art prints. For someone with SHIRT in the name you’d think that would be all I was really interested in but I think it’s the variety that really make a difference and provides those exciting hidden gems!

G2GIs there anything else you want to share? Hidden talents? Thoughts about the current state of the game? Price of tea in China? Would you consider adding the G2G Shirt for possible EU orders lol?

GS: 2020 is going to be a big year for us, with so many more new designs being added and created over the next few months it’s going to be so much fun sharing our creations with everyone!

Not so hidden talent is making MT hungry of Discord, I post quite a lot of food pics on the G2G Discord server.

I’d love to add a G2G range to the store! Check back here folks and we’ll see what we can sort out! I’ve loved being part of the G2G Community and would be proud to have your stuff here!

My daughter just asked, “R2-D2 was there for the whole story and never had his memory wiped so why didn’t he just tell Luke that Vader was his father at some point?” I just sat there dumbfounded until she shrugged and walked away.
